Bangkok overflows with places: thousands of spas, restaurants and bars. Most guides try to list everything. We do exactly the opposite — and it is a deliberate choice.
Few addresses, but the right ones
We prefer seven territories and a handful of addresses per category over an endless directory. Each place is visited in person, tested several times, then assessed against clear criteria.
If an address does not deserve its place, it does not appear here. A short selection is one you can trust with your eyes closed — and that is the whole value of our approach.
Bangkok changes fast. Some venues open with a flourish and close without warning. We update our selection regularly so that it stays reliable over time.
Away from the hotels, in the heart of the city
Most of our addresses lie deliberately outside the hotels. It is a stance we own fully: you never truly discover a city while shut away inside a hotel complex, however comfortable it may be.
To step out of the hotel is to walk down a soi, push open the door of a neighbourhood house, cross paths with locals and taste Bangkok as it is really lived. The finest tables and the most beautiful spas often hide far from the lobbies, on streets you only take when you go looking a little.
That is where the heart of the city beats. To favour these addresses is to choose the local experience over the easy option — and to leave with the feeling of having truly known Bangkok, not merely of having slept there.
No fees charged to establishments
We charge nothing to spas or restaurants to appear here. An establishment cannot buy its rating, its place in the ranking, or even a mention.
This is the only guarantee of a sincere opinion: what you read depends on no marketing budget, only on the genuine quality observed on site during our visits.
This financial independence is not merely a matter of ethics: it is what makes our selection useful. A guide that accepts advertising cannot, by definition, be impartial.
No commission on your bookings
When you book a table or a treatment, we take nothing — neither from you nor from the establishment. We have no financial interest in steering you towards one place rather than another.
Our only reward is that the recommendation proves right, and that you return because it was. This simple logic guides every one of our editorial choices.
The method: how we test
Each address is visited without notifying the establishment. We book like any other visitor, pay our bill and observe the entire experience — from welcome to departure.
Our criteria vary by category: the skill of the practitioners for a spa, the precision of the cooking for a restaurant, the view and the service for a rooftop. But the level of demand stays the same everywhere.
An address joins our selection only after at least two visits at different times. A first, excellent visit may be chance; a second confirms consistency.
Impartiality, beneficial to all
For you: the certainty of an honest recommendation, with no commercial ulterior motive. For establishments: recognition of genuine quality work, never of an advertising investment.
Tested. Selected. Recommended. Without compromise, without fake reviews — just excellence, in a city full of it for those who know where to look.
And the addresses we do not mention?
You will read no negative comment here about the establishments absent from our selections. That is not our role, and it would not be fair: an address that does not appear in our ranking is not a bad address — it simply gathers fewer strengths than those we have chosen.
Bangkok abounds with honourable places that we have not ranked at the top — sometimes over a detail, sometimes because another house did better in the same field. We prefer to shine a light on excellence rather than to point a finger at what falls a little short of it.
Here again, it is our independence speaking: we owe nothing to establishments — no favour, no indulgence, no sanction. We answer only to our users, to whom we have committed ourselves. It is to them, and to them alone, that our loyalty goes.

How can you suggest an establishment? We do not accept applications: our teams carry out their own scouting and visit on their own initiative. No submitted file or request can speed up or trigger a visit.

Is the selection complete? No — and that is intentional. We prefer a short, reliable selection to an exhaustive list. Some neighbourhoods or categories are still being explored.
